General Background
At the end of the twentieth century, and certainly in the 21st century, the field of air and space has become a central component in military campaigns, in general policy, national security, international affairs and civilian activities. Advanced technologies have greatly improved air and space travel and allowed us to penetrate deeper into space than ever before. The field of air and space has become crucial to Israel’s defense, and it is fundamental in developing future strategies and deterrents. The importance of air and space is now one of the main factors in shaping strategic policy in the world and in particular in the Middle East.
Since no framework or organization existed in Israel that focused on the study of air and space, especially from the perspective of: national security, policy, and international affairs, the IAF Center Association founded the Fisher Brothers Institute for Air & Space Strategic Studies in order to provide the State of Israel with a center dedicated to this critical and ever-expanding field.. The Institute capitalizes on the knowledge and experience of former and current IAF men and women as well as the vast information and expertise accumulated in the IAF over the years The Institute brings together Israeli Air Force specialists, statesmen and academicians to develop thinking and create public debate in the civil and military sectors.
